kunguma poovum konjum puraavum
kunguma poovum konjun puraavum
its too late, its already 5 months back the movie was released, but something is still in my mind disturbing me everyday, why is that this movie is thrashed as a usual tragic movie or a useless village movie,
cliches:
1. crying scenes - especially hero's mom and few other crying scens which passes by, the director wud've thought of implimenting the raw feeling of a mom in a village, whose boy is becoming useless because of a girl, it was realistic, but at the same time it was irritating, i felt that it was irritating for those 2 mins, i thought when will she stop crying
2. Love failure - its very easy to criticize the movie as a usual love failure, hero lost his love and drinks, turns violent, arrogant and the usual 'beard'.
3. Raw emotion - Too much emotion which according to a normal-movie-goer is a "BIG BORE'
I watched this movie in ambattur rakki, the very first day and also in pioneer muthu theatre - Nagercoil (2 months later)
in rakki - no clapping, no emotions, but fully kalayal for every sad scene
in pioneer muthu - this movie has a unique hero introduction scene, yesteryear song of ilaiyaraja plays, "MGR vandhadhum NTR vandhadhum indha cineme thaan...." nobody knows whether he's gonna be the next MGR or NTR, but definitely he is not the usual hero, he is just one among the youth in that pioneer muthu theatre, the applause for that scene was
equal to that of a intro scene in ajith or vijay movie.

Slang in this movie is a bit hard for people to follow, its not the usual madurai slang, here pronounciation is different and they speak faster, every sentence that they speak has a bad word attached to it, its casual.... critics may say tamil cinema is growing in all technical aspects and a movie like kpkp is like a pit, may be cinema is growing in technical aspects, camera, DI, Sound engineering, Hi-tech posters, massive sets, but how many movies did really focus on raw emotions....
There are few reason for which i personally feel that this movie is simply great..
Expression of the heroine when she is about to be married to a drunkard, her cheeks vibrates, her eyes shows a fear, she has nothing more left in life, at that point her face shows that 'verumai' (வெறுமை) in her face, the bubbly white-skinned-heroine could only dream of bringing such an expression.
Another scene - One of the neighbour sends thulasi back to the village in the bus, she wont speak anything in that scene, she wont even say a 'thanks', but she keeps looking at her, silent emotion.... throughout the movie her acting was excellent, may be in 2008, parvathy came out with a brilliant performance in poo, and for this year its only 'thulasi'.
Music - if a viewer is unable to feel the vibration in 'oru nimisham' song its not just your kind of movie, it would be better if they stop talking about the movie, rather skip it...
Critics may say its not necessary for a girl to cry anytime, whats there in crying? But this is not a City, its village, women are restricted in kitchen, its hard to see people sending girl child to school, people may say this is a movie that must be released 10 or 20 years back, but it wud've been a huge flop if it was released 10 or 20 years back, the truth is that we in cities have grown up and feel hard to accept that this is the truth! if u get a chance, just travel in a bus from vadaseri to MUTTAM, you'll get to see atleast
one happy koochan and thulasi interacting thru their eyes,
one sad koochan in a lungi with a beard,
one sad thulasi with a meen koodai in her hand,
one agressive dharman in half bodhai......
p.s.the movie is definitely not a path breaker, it has cliches, but in the history of tamil cinema which debutant director made a movie without any cliches?
