Eeram

Eeram - S Pictures

It was only today morning I saw a still of the hero Aadhi like this in rakki theatre, mirugam still on one side and his police get-up eeram still on the other side, its the same tough guy from mirugam who turned into a romantic + action hero. Perfect manliness for a police man and his voice sounded like prithviraj, but nice voice. His performance as a policeman is rough n tuff, but when it comes to romance he turned romantic with sindhu menon, next talented hero in the

Tinsel town.

Nandha - who appears as a businessman he redesigns new cars, his character is the major suspense element of the movie, Nandha till now only played characters which are soft and romantic, but he is a perfect villain, that too way he speaks, his voice delivers the cruelty with the words. He is already a talented actor, but an unfound talent, may be its time that he will get the appreciation that he deserves.

Sindhu menon, a lesser know face, very few remember her role in Vijay’s Youth, she also acted in another Tamil movie "Ammaiappan" - hero of this movie is villain actor-stunt choreographer Ponnambalam, she daringly loves Ponnambalam in this movie but Ponnambalam rejects her love and he loves only his mom, actually there is no use of mentioning about this when I want to write about eeram, but this was her pathetic status in tamil cinema. She is

famous in sandalwood and youtube as a sexy heroine. Since 2001 she never came to tamil cinema, but I liked her cute face in those days. We can say that she is BACK WITH A BANG with EEram with a powerful lead role. She acted very well, no flaws in her acting, many heroines fail in crying scenes, but she did that picture perfect, since most of her scenes are crying scenes. Initially she appears a college newbie, but she looks a bit old from being a first year college

student, but the romantic scenes in Trichy are well etched, romance is funny and entertaining. Nobody ever captured Trichy so beautifully in any movies. They should have shot a bit more montages in mukkombu and malaikottai. Director and producer really gave a life for this talented actress, but will others too give her chance????

Saranya Mohan - A very small role but she is the key character in second half. Her frightened reactions are great and she too fits perfect in her role. Best casting in recent times.

Thaman - Music Director - Drummer in boys - his previous work in sindhanai sei was perfect, but the movie turned negative and nobody recognized him, but its time for him to celebrate now. Only 3 songs and a theme music, but they are gonna haunt the audience if sun music throws some light. Thrilling BGM was fantastic. In a romantic scene, when aadhi first meets sindhu - BGM + face reaction + camera work everything collides well and makes it one of the best scene in the movie. Tharai erangiya paravai polavey song is trimmed, they play it only for 2 minutes - its disappointing. This was the first time in theatre I’ve seen audience watching the songs, it’s only because of the Situation+montages+music. Even, director shankar mentioned in many interviews that audience are not recognizing the songs in theatres, they just walk out of the theatre. Audience are always brilliant they watch something only if they like it. Montage songs are definitely changing trends. Eeram is the best example.

Cameraman, DI, Art Direction, Screenplay and direction -

Camerawork and picture clarity is awesome, throughout the movie they maintained a cool visuals with that blue-like-visuals. Most of the movie shot in either dark or in rain or a room. DI was excellent especially with water visuals-cloud patterns-Car re modeling-Ghost scenes. In every open shots, the cloud patterns are changed to dark clouds, it looks beautiful, may be its done intentionally to relate the texture on screen with the title. There are no water drops on the camera. Art direction especially with each apartment and the car shop was cool. From tea cups to laptop everything looks rich. Screenplay throughout the movie kept going with the pace of the movie increasing in every reel, Nandha scenes somewhere looks like dragging, but it doesnt spoil the pace of the movie. The colour red and water playing vital roles in the first half is definitely a screenplay brilliance. Usage of the red colour adds more suspense to the movie in first half.

Except director shankar, everyone who worked in this movie, from Aadhi to Arivazhalagan, everyone are amateaurs but the end result is as mature as a movie made by maturistic film makers.

Fear Un-leashed - When the movie was close to climax, I felt that why is the movie moving like a usual commercial-revenge-movie. I felt that the movie was good but they spoiled the climax, but, I scolded myself for thinking like that after watching the end-climax. It was a very thrilling ending, my blood pressure rised and fear just flowed thru my blood from brain to tip of the fingers to my Toes, I felt to myself that this is the best thriller after "Sixth sense"
